STAND FOR SOMETHING

DIMENSIONS 150cm × 180cm
MEDIUM Acrylic & Tar on Raw Canvas
YEAR 2025

This piece expands outward—connecting personal identity to continental and historical narratives. References to Africa, resource economies, media influence, and cultural symbols build a layered environment where past and present collide. The central figure, marked by a visible internal structure, stands within this complexity—not separate from it, but formed by it. Phrases like “TV blinds us” and “stand for something or fall for anything” act as both warning and instruction, pushing the work into a more declarative space. Unlike earlier pieces, this painting carries a stronger sense of position. It is less about questioning and more about recognition—of history, of influence, and of the need for awareness within it.
